In Shape Talks, students look at an image and share what they see in the image. This lesson is designed to set the tone for a collaborative student culture in the classroom and show students how important visualization is within mathematics. We use different types of images and shapes designed to build students’ skills around seeing an image from different perspectives. Additional questions are included for students to explore the connections between the images and other mathematical ideas.
