Our Activities

Research & Learning Opportunities

A research center of Stanford University’s Graduate School of Education, youcubed provides tasks, courses, and scholarship to inspire all students with open, creative mindset mathematics.

Teachers and students will find learning opportunities, videos, lessons, and evidence-based ideas to support their math instruction and learning.

Youcubed also fosters the next generation of math education scholars with research activities for PhD and graduate students at Stanford.

Professor Jo Boaler and the youcubed team collaborate with school districts to bring inspired math learning to classrooms.

California Math Framework Clarification

The California Department of Education is in the process of revising the Mathematics Framework for California Public Schools: Kindergarten Through Grade Twelve (Mathematics Framework), last updated in 2013.

The five-person committee drafting the framework with input from educators and researchers includes two faculty from Stanford Graduate School of Education (GSE): Jo Boaler, the Nomellini and Olivier and Professor of Education, and Jennifer Langer-Osuna, an associate professor at the GSE. The other members of the writing team are: Katy Early, CSU Chico; Ben Ford, Sonoma State; and Brian Lindaman, CSU Chico (Chair).

Professors Boaler and Langer-Osuna serve as writers in their capacities as individuals, and Stanford does not take any position on the Framework. Similarly, the appearance of the Framework or discussion about it on the youcubed website or any Stanford website does not constitute an endorsement by Stanford, but has been made available for informational and educational purposes.
